On the one hand, varnish is used for reasons of appearance (from matt to high gloss) or to apply a protective coating which protects the print from abrasion and external influences such as chemical substances. Or the coating is necessary to optimise the surface area for thermal transfer printing. UV varnish does not, however, protect the print from UV radiation. UV only means that the varnish is cured in the printing machine with UV radiation.
